Kroyer-Perderen Wildlife Shelter
We are a wildlife
shelter operating in southern Victoria, Australia. One of the major
problems we have (I'm sure along with shelters in many other countries)
is road trauma. The majority of animals we receive or rescue are
a result of being hit by vehicles. For example, over a two month
period alone we have treated two Echidnas (spiny ant-eating animals)
whose snouts have been run over by cars or trucks, one wombat hit
by a car, 12 magpies (mostly with wing damage apparently caused
by vehicles), three parrots, two blue tongue lizards, three kangaroos
and one wallaby - all suffering from vehicle impacts.
We are a totally voluntary organization but we manage to operate
a wildlife ambulance to respond to calls 24 hours a day.
