Humanity continues to bulldoze
its way through animal habitats across the world ... ... and it's all too easy to forget that (which we ironically call evolution) we are invading and destroying the natural homelands of other species at an alarming rate … In nearly all cases the animals were there first, not us. Ploughing
roads through woodlands and meadows - in fact, any natural terrain means
that at some time in your life you are most likely going to kill or
maim an animal while driving ... and perhaps without even realizing
it. As more and more normally shy, reclusive animals and birds are forced
out of the last remaining pockets of their natural habitat, it's becoming
more evident that their nature, or behaviour is also changing. They
forage closer to populated areas as forests are felled and towns expand.
Road building, which comes hand in hand with this encroachment, adds
to the devastation of life simply through hundreds of thousands of road-kill
incidents daily.
