About New Age
The term New Age is generally defined as an alternative lifestyle; am
expression formerly recognized through the global popularity of the 1960's
flower-power generation. It was a cultural revolution which drew together
individuals from many alternative beliefs and lifestyles, such as poets,
musicians, anit-war protesters, alternative artists, pagans, shamans,
Buddhists, holistic healers, metaphysical scholars and alternative medicine
practitioners. This period saw the emergence of large outdoor contemporary
music festivals, which celebrated the spirit of New Age philosophy. Festivals
of this kind have now become a popular yearly pilgrimage for millions.
Socially, New Age also describes a complete way of life for some; living
off the earth and travelling across countries to experience a more natural,
environmentally aware lifestyle that this planet can offer, far away from
the decadence and ant-like trappings of city-style life.
Today, the new age movement also includes an industry of its own, mostly
created by small manufacturers and individuals, using natural, renewable
resources and artistic craftsmanship to create all kinds of clothing,
jewellery, artworks and recyclable products. Hemp products is a popular
new age choice and of course, there is a whole genre of New Age music
available. Alternative Healing is another popular area of the New Age
movement, as is alternative medicine.
The true of meaning of New Age signifies the need to change humanity's
way of thinking; to live in harmony with nature by accepting that the
way we use and abuse the natural resources of this planet is wrong. If
you are of a peaceful, non-political and compassionate disposition who
is concerned with the environment, then the philosophy that's interwoven
throughout the pages of these sites may provide you with a further insight.
