Wales:
Animal Lost and Found Line for Wales
The
Animal Lost and Found Line for Wales is a voluntary
organisation available 24hrs. The organisation will
'steer' the finder or loser of an animal to someone
closest to them who will be able to help. Certain vets
in Wales will take stray dogs in when the dog warden
is not on duty. The
Animal Lost and Found Line for Wales has been
operating the service for 17 years. Police in Wales
usually give out their number when contacted. The organisation's
main aim is to make sure the animal is taken to somewhere
safe and then onto the pound. They do not redirect finders
to pounds that have a destruct policy. Losers of their
pets are directed to all available telephone numbers
of local agencies that will help them find their animals.
They also give advice on what to do to help recover
their pets.
