About Hemp
Hemp cloths, hemp bags, hats, paper and
even hemp CD cases!
All these things can be made out of
a highly environmentally friendly fibre made from the inner bark of the
easily-grown hemp plant.
Hemp is related to the Banana plant
and is a common name for "Cannabis sativa", but not to be confused
with ordinary cannabis or marijuana. Although looking like cannabis, hemp
is of course "legal", and is an older name for Abaca. Hemp fibres
are particularly good for tough fiberous products like bags, hammocks,
rope and clothes such as hats and trousers.
it is being increasingly used in paper maunfacturing and you can even
buy environmentally friendly wallpaper made from hemp. Being very strong,
hemp is being developed into biodegradable products to replace plastic;
you can now get CD cases made from hemp!
Hemp can also be grown for food and
its oil is rich in lanolin and linolenic acids.
Organic hemp is a great choice for
families maintaining an environmentally friendly lifestyle. With its unique
properties, everything made from hemp, including clothing, beads and jewellery,
brings with it the assuring quality that what comes from the earth can
one day return to it without any detrimental effect to the planet.
