VeggieGlobal's Vegetarian Classified
Ads site is a manually administered supplementary area of the VeggieGlobal
and Looking-Glass web retreat - an extensive non-profit global project
which runs good-cause campaigns, resources and related programmes
on animal, environmental, humanitarian, and of course, vegetarian
issues. Your payment for a classified ad on this site is treated
as a donation to help support the project's good-cause activity
and is not refundable - so please make sure that your business fits
the ethical criteria of VeggieGlobal before submitting your ad.
Only ethically suitable ads will be
accepted. This means NONE of the FOLLOWING:
- No ads which in any way exploit animals
or the environment.
- No restaurants / guest-houses etc.
which are actually omniverous establishments but advertising "vegetarian"
options.
- No exotic pet sellers.
- No breeders.
- No businesses selling meat, leather
or fur - or items manufactured that cause irreversible impact on
the environment (i.e. wood from unsustainable forests).
NOTE: Items derived from animals that have died from natural causes
are marginally acceptable as long as the advertiser can provide
clear ethical evidence. (you must contact
VeggieGlobal with a specific request in this case)
- No so-called flexitarian or pescitarian
based businesses.
- No appointment ads by charities which
test on animals. No religious organisations. No charities dealing
with self-inflicted human health conditions (i.e smoking, obesity)
- No businesses which supply non-environmentally
friendly products or services.
- No religious organizations.
A POLITE WARNING ... VeggieGlobal site
visitors are asked to report any establishments advertising on this
vegetarian classifieds site that turn out to be non-exclusive vegetarian
restaurants, guesthouses etc. So please be aware ... if you are not
exclusively veggie, you will be removed from this site! Do not advertise
your restaurant / guesthouse / holiday etc. if it is not entirely
vegetarian!

scheme. All you need to do is check the appropriate box on the advertising
application form. VeggieGlobal will then add a discount voucher link
to your advert - As an example, the link will read “5% (or 10%)
discount for VeggieGlobal / Looking-Glass free subscribers - get your
voucher (valid on this advert till October 2008)"
Customers simply print out their appropriate voucher and hand it in
to you to claim their 5% or 10% discount from their purchase! The
voucher reads:
"Not to be used in conjunction with any other offer at the
establishment where you are redeeming this voucher. Voucher can only
be used once (per year) for this offer by the same person at the same
establishment / service within date shown on advert."
In other words, It is at your discretion as to whether you accept
the voucher more than one time from the same customer on a repeat

Local, Countrywide or International?
Before advertising
it is worth considering the best "ethically balanced" category
to help draw in your customers: Many of us are becoming more aware
of the importance of buying local produce and sourcing local services
to help reduce the impact on the environment. I.e. reducing the distance
between the source of a product and the customer to help reduce transport
carbon emissions and traffic congestion - So if your business is able
to service your local area (perhaps as well as nationally), VeggieGlobal
Classifieds encourages you to emphasis your local presence, if relevant.
When your ad is placed, include details of your local area support
if applicable. We will make sure that your ad is subtitled to help
"locals" find you as well as your country or world-wide
customers. And remember, as these classifieds grow, we simply create
more locally focused areas so that customers can fine-tune their search
right down to your town if necessary - This kind of approach should
help people find "home-grown" products in their vicinity;
and this helps the environment. For example you may be a wind turbine
