Q.
Why should I pay to advertise my service when I might be able to
place a free listing on other vegetarian sites?
A.
Firstly, thousands of web surfers from across the planet visit
VeggieGlobal each day, and many hit the "Vegetarian Classifieds"
section simply because it is almost always No.1 and 2 on the search
engines out thousands of other sites (even when we may not have
any ads in a certain category!).
This is because many small sites are very fragmented and non-dedicated
to this specific style of vegetarian / animal and environmental
promotion.
Think about it ...Thousands are looking for you here - so why
not advertise!
You may have an ad on a local vegetarian site for years but may
only be viewed once a month, if at all; but on a huge integrated
web system like VeggieGlobal & Looking-Glass, which is crossed
linked with over 3000 internal pages, numerous visitors should
see your ad many times a day. Besides this, adverts are pasted
into actual pages "by hand" (rather than irrelevant database automation)
and key-worded to give your ad the optimal chance of being found
by a search engine within the top position area.
Secondly, Vegetarian Classifieds is a concise and uncluttered
listing. You'll notice that the Classifieds pages are not financially
supported by any pay-per-click advertising; those irrelevant auto-download
ads, which in VeggieGlobal's opinion vulgarizes page layouts and
distracts a site visitor's focus. This means that someone looking
for your establishment in any given area will find it quickly
and without having to wade through distracting G**gle ads and
other superfluous info ... and most of you will also be glad to
know that this also means NO user comments and reviews are displayed
here. (The next question answers why)
So, we believe that at the
cost of around 1 GBP donation a week you will easily recover your
advertising costs through this concise and dedicated service that
provides a solid platform for you to promote your business. (You
are advised to read the tips on advert wording at the bottom of
this page).
By placing an advert here at VeggieGlobal's Vegetarian Classifieds
section you WILL be seen.
One final thought. When we say we advertise ONLY vegetarian restaurants
/ guest-houses etc. rather than "omnivorous" restaurants,
we mean it! ... So site visitors can be assured that they don't
have to wade through a list of unsuitable eateries!

Q. Why
should I advertise here? - There are hardly any other ads here at
the moment!
A.
As already mentioned "vegetarian classifieds" is nearly
always No1 and 2 (and sometimes even 3 as well) in the top search
engines like Google, Yahoo and MSN. Above any other reason that's
probably the most important reason for you to advertise. But why
there are so few businesses advertisings here is simply paradoxical!
The Q and A taken from the site visitor Q and A's below
explains this (we had to add it to the site to stop the numerous
"complaints" from the public asking why there are hardly
any ads to be found!)

Q. Why
don't you allow customer reviews to be added?
A.
Anyone who understands how
web site "add comment / review" forms work, will realise
how much they are notoriously misused.
With wildly conflicting opinions, resulting in over-the-top ravings
on one hand and damning reviews on the other, a pattern of fallacious
testimonials emerge. Take restaurants for example. While one restaurant
- plus their friends and relatives - can easily add great reviews
about themselves, other rival establishments (or, in fact anyone
with a grudge) can just as easily post negative reviews to turn
customers away! In between this, "real" customers often provide
bizarrely diverse viewpoints showing how personal taste can both
colour and discolour truths. "Each to their own" as the saying
goes, but do such comments actually tell the real story about
your establishment or with any product for that matter - good
or bad?
And so, although the provision of customer reviews can sometimes
offer a vague idea of what to expect, customers can often be left
far more confused (or even falsely swayed) by scrolls of vastly
conflicting opinions.
Your may well favour a comments site which currently has positive
remarks about your business, but you only need one detrimental
review to be posted at the top of the list, and your credibility
and potential customers are instantly lost.
With tastes and expectations being so subjective, and therefore
unreliable, VeggieGlobal suggests that trial and error, through
customers actually making their own choices, is the most realistic
way to find out if a restaurant, guesthouse or any service is
the right one for them.

Q.
What if there isn't a specific geographical location to put my ad?
A.
First of all, the search engine should lead a visitor straight
to your location when keywording. However, the more VeggieGlobal
Classifieds is filled with adverts, the more actual page branches
it grows. Each category focuses into your locality only as much
as necessary ... so ads are always easily found without the extra
clutter!
For example ... if you are a vegetarian cookery course in South
Ayreshire in Scotland, but there is one only cookery course advertising
in Ayreshire, then the ad will appear in the "Scottish Counties"
section. - A South Ayreshire "branch" or page won't exist at that
point, South Ayreshire will be keyworded and displayed especially
for your advert on the "Scottish Counties page. But if the
"Scottish Counties" section gets lots of cookery course ads, we
then add individual counties and even town branches, so you can
zoom further in to your chosen location. This saves having to
unnecessarily search deeper into areas that otherwise might not
contain any ads. The ad always remains visible. So we only begin
to extend categories and create more branches when the need arises.
Manual page creations for specific areas, as done here at VeggieGlobal,
are far more accurate than automated database results that nearly
all classified style web-sites use. With VeggieGlobal's "hand
application" a site visitor gets a more relevant and personalized
result.

Here's
a Question (from site visitors Q&A's) that has been asked many
times by VeggieGlobal visitors and why you shouldn't hesitate about
advertising here now! ...
Q. Why can't I see any ads
in the area or category I'm looking at?
A. First,
please accept our apologies for not finding an ad in the area
you are searching.
Some very important things you need to know are ...
Primarily, this non-profit site does not entertain unwarranted
displays of g**gle style "pay per click" ads that you
see on many websites. For various reasons, VeggieGlobal has determined
that "PPC" advertising often delivers highly inaccurate
results for our site visitors - and secondly, the extent to which
such streaming ads clutter web pages with irreverent junk would
prove to be nothing but a vulgar way to run a quality classified
ads area.
Vegetarian Classifieds is supplementary support area of VeggieGlobal
and Looking-Glass and the "donate to advertise" scheme
here is designed to help with the campaigns, and good cause programmes
running across this entire non-profit web retreat. This is not
a commercial business but instead run purely on an exhaustive,
voluntary basis. VeggieGlobal recognizes that a concise, uncluttered
classifieds area is a service that all vegetarians essentially
need … a resource without confusing (and often abused) user reviews
and comments (see below) and as already mentioned, no irrelevant
streams of G**gle adverts on these pages either.
Similar to a straightforward yellow pages type phone book, this
site provides "hand-applied" ad space for veggie / animal
/ environmental services across the world for easy referral both
locally for you and while on your travels.
So,
if categories are empty, advertisers have not yet applied to fill
them ... and this is where
you can help us to help you!
Whichever area of the world you live in please tell your local
veggie restaurant, guest house, retreat or animal friendly service
to advertise here (very cheaply!).
They WILL be seen in these ads by thousands like yourself each
week, due to its overall No1 search engine position. Spreading
the word to actual owners of veggie establishments will help them
and your local veggie community benefit from this unified resource
... bringing customers and exposure to and from all corners of
the world.
The money (donations) that the sites receive from the adverts
will help to keep the campaigns and good-cause projects of this
huge non-profit web retreat alive and in turn the charitable causes
we represent and work with. It's in the interests of ALL veggie
and compassionately spirited people to try and make the Vegetarian
Global Classifieds deliver what it aims to promise.
VeggieGlobal Classified yearly ads cost just over 1 GBP donation
per week with an extra 3 months free as an introductory offer.
Some advertisers may offer you our five or ten percent discount
voucher incentive scheme. This means that by simply subscribing
free to VeggieGlobal you can collect your voucher and use it at
the places offering the discount. (You need to subscribe free
to VeggieGlobal before picking up your voucher)
So please bear with VeggieGlobal as the classifieds pages begin
to fill up!

Tips on
Wording your advert here at VeggieGlobal Classifieds.
1. A classified advert should be
concise and informative about the service you provide and not
overly self-appraising. By "blowing your own trumpet"
too much you are setting yourself up for possible criticism.
2. Make sure you always add your
opening and closing times throughout the year, and if you are
a restaurant include last serving time.
3. Always add your full address
and full phone number with international dialling code in brackets.
4. If you have a website (which
will be included and linked in your advert), make sure that your
own pages provide a way that potential customers can contact you
via email or a contact form. If you don't have a website you should
include an email address in your ad here, but be aware to make
sure it's an address you don't mind getting spammed through, because
unfortunately spamming robots can harvest email addresses through
web pages. We will however print your email adress in a style
which should help to stop this happening.
Finally, if you have a website with your address details on, make
sure it is actually displayed in text and not as a graphic. People
like to simply copy the address of your site and paste it into
their address book, PDA etc. and not have to fiddle around writing
your details down with pen and paper!
5. Don't forget to use the optional
5 or ten percent off voucher incentive scheme if you so wish when
you fill out your ad application form.
